About Jenni Leverington

I completed my training as a Registered Nurse and Midwife in South Africa and completed further midwifery studies in the UK. I have worked as Clinical midwife in MFM for past 12 years with and have been part of research teams within Preterm Birth Prevention.
I have sat on Department of Health Epidemiology working party groups in many areas of research.

Why does preventing early birth matter to you?

"My current role as Clinical Midwife in the Maternal Fetal Medicine department has given much insight into the long term consequences that preterm birth can have on the individual, their families and the community. Preventing preterm birth gives children a good start to life and I have a particular interest in the evidence surrounding late preterm birth and look forward to being able to share this evidence-based data with my midwifery and obstetric colleagues through the Alliance."

The Australian Preterm Birth Prevention Alliance is working to safely lower the rate of early birth across Australia.
